How I Lost 100 Pounds With Fat Burning Food Swaps

I was a chubby child, normal weight in high school and thin in young adulthood. I weighed 110 pounds when I got married and 117 pounds when I went in for my first prenatal check up with my first child. Through four children, I gained 22 pounds per pregnancy, lost it immediately after childbirth and stayed at normal weight. Then, after giving birth to two stillborn babies in 2000 and 2004, taking the antidepressant Paxil and starting early menopause at age 40, I doubled my weight. Right is me in 2011 when I began dieting, though truthfully, not very seriously.

Then I got serious late in 2012.  I learned a lot about weight loss and body reshaping. As I learned new things, I put them into practice. Then the weight started coming off in earnest. I have lost 100 pounds, dropped from size 20 to 3 and shaved off 14 BMI points. How? Several ways: the most important being a total eating makeover. I didn't stop eating or cut out major food groups. That's crash dieting and not healthy. I didn't have surgery or take drugs. Those are temporary band-aids, and don't produce the real changes needed for weight loss.

Free Printable Cinco de Mayo Coloring Pages and Crafts

Like so many borrowed U.S.  holidays, Cinco de Mayo is pretty schmaltzy.  But that shouldn't stop us celebrating Mexican history and culture. Making traditional crafts, singing songs, eating foods, brings multiculturalism to the classroom. And that's all good. Here are printable Cinco de Mayo coloring pages, Mexican arts and crafts and Spanish-themed activities for kids. Latino and non-Latino will enjoy a fiesta of fun! I've tried to keep the kitsch to a minimum.  Free Printable Cinco de Mayo Coloring Pages and Crafts

Mother's Day Gifts for SAHM or WAHM Moms

Is Mother's Day gift-giving different for SAHM (stay at home moms) or WAHM (work at home moms) than for moms who go to job? I think it is a little. WAHMs long to get out more, while job  moms look forward to being home with the family. Not better worse--just different. Granted, Mother's Day gifts should be individual for every woman. But I was a SAHM and WAHM. I can speak to the unique needs that we have.  Here's a guide to get us just what we what and need for Mother's Day. Mother's Day Gifts for the SAHM Mom

Freelancer Tip: Too Many Keyword, Links Hurts SEO

Linkbacks and tags on articles and posts draw search traffic. Links create channels or magnets that attract views, clicks, interaction. That's good for page views. BUT, too many links and overused keywords have the reverse affect. They hurt search indexing. Maybe not at first. Initially, they'll draw lots of traffic. But in the long run, when Google catches onto the keyword stuffing and overlinking, they'll have adverse effect. So get your Google juice, making links of keywords. But don't overdo it. Read on for tutorials on how to balance that.   Writing for the Web 101 Too Many Keywords, Links Hurts SEO - News - Bubblews

Blogging Tips, Work While the Interent is Cooperative

For the past few days, I have doing blog PMs (preventative maintenance). I'm "spring cleaning" my 55 niche blogs (an Amazonian task--I'd say Herculean, but being a gal, I want to show solidarity with the ladies.) I've been writing online since 2005 and blogs are my milch cows. So I keep them up. The internet has been slow and sites have been crashing since Windows 8.1 updated. So here's how I multitask when the computer is slow.  Blogging Tips, Take While Google Blogger is Giving

Keep Kids Busy with Printable Easter Egg Patterns, Psanky Stencils

Need a project to keep kids busy (and out of your hair)? I don't know about you but late winter early spring is s super busy time for me, with Easter, Lent, volunteer work and work at home projects. It was busy when I was homeschooling four kids, too.

How about letting them make Easter crafts? Easter egg coloring is an art form of its own. There are traditional Easter patterns, but one style defines the art: Ukrainian psanky eggs. Many Eastern European countries have similar egg decorating traditions. These ancient crafts create mosaic patterns in classic designs. If you'd like to try your hand at making psanky eggs for Easter, here are free online patterns, printables and designs. I've included printable traditional easter egg stencils. Free Printable Easter Egg Patterns, Psanky Stencils

Caring for Elderly, Acknowledge Burnout

I don't do sadness or burnout well. My MO is to ignore or displace. It scares me. So I don't let myself experience it and move on. Our oldest daughter flew up from Louisiana for a our youngest daughter's 16th birthday. Our oldest son came in from Detroit with his girlfriend. It was his b-day too, but he came to see his sister. And my husband and I had to take care of elderly mother in law. We got burned out. My advice to couples caring for a difficult relative is to stay connected. Don't let your caregiving overwhelm you. I Think I Need to Acknowledge Burnout

Copyright Infringement Big Problem as Facebook Ad Fatkini Photo Theft Shows

Blogger Rachel Cateyes is about celebrating fat. The 300 pound woman proudly debuted her two-piece "fatkini" on her blog. That image was stolen by Facebook spam ads for Venus Index and Venus Factor diets. It highlights the big picture with copyright infringement, pun intended. Here's more on how plagiarism and online theft works.

How I Freelance and Manage 55 Blogs

I've been freelance writing online since 2005. I also blog my articles on the 55 blogs I created and maintain, one being this. When I say that I have 55 blogs, someone invariably asks "Pray tell how do you keep up???" Fair question.

1) Freelancing is my job. I write 30-40 articles a week --shorter on sites like Bubblews, longer on paid content sites. Read on for the rest. Writing for the Web 101 How I Manage 55 Blogs

In Favor of Public Breastfeeding, Thank You Mayim Bialik

Mayim Bialek--funny, Jewish, neurosurgeon, Big Bang Theory, Blossom, vegan, naturalista--what's not to love? But that's not my favorite thing. Mayim publicly breastfed her two boys and practiced child-led weaning. She spoke out on HuffPo advocating public breastfeeding. On her Kveller blog, she writes about organic parenting. As a Ph.D, she shares brain and learning helps for parents. Let's hear it for multitasking, nursing moms who love their kids enough to risk public censure.Thank You, Mayim Bialik, for Breastfeeding Voice - News - Bubblews

Comment on Bubblews Posts Not Profiles If You Want Interaction

I've read complaints questioning generic article comments. Well, here's my $64,000 question: what about those generic profile comments? I don't mean the initial introductory comment. I don't mean personal, specific comments or questions. In lieu of email, that's the only place to discuss non-article-specific stuff.   Quit the Profile Graffiti and Visit Bubblews Posts If You Want Interaction

How to Work, Earn Money While You're Sick

I've been writing online since 2005, full time since 2010. I've written for lots of sites and earned enough to quit my subbing job. Like a good IPA beer, each writing site has its merits. What I like about Bubblews is that it's good for those slow days. Like when I don't feel good. I'm tired, achy and fluish. Our temps have jumped about 20-25 degrees (still under freezing). And I'm just superstitious enough to think it woke up the bad germs from their winter sleep. And Bubblews enables me to earn money with "light duty" work.  Writing on Bubblews is Good Sick Day Work

Keeping the Lines of Communication Open Anytime, Anywhere

Our oldest two kids have been out of the house for 5 and 3 years respectively. I don't have texting, so they're forced to communicate the old-fashioned way--smoke signals. I kid, no we have to talk. Sometimes we Facetime, and sometimes just via phone.

Our family is super close-knit. Not weird or inbred or anything. Well, I tell a lie, we are a little outside the box, but in a fun, eccentric way. Just not weird like that. Anyway, I always say the kids channel each other. Because whenever one out of the house kid calls, the other OOTH kid will too. Sometimes at the same time. They know I am available to them anytime, anywhere. I may have to call back, but unless it's unavoidable I will stop what I am doing to talk. Keeping the lines of communication open is my most important mom-job. My Oldest Two Kids Always Call on the Same Day

Mini Workouts for Work at Home Writers, Serious and Silly Version

One of the biggest occupational hazards for online work at home writers isn't writer's block or writer's cramp--it's writer's spread (as in, well, you know, around the middle and bottom?) I've been a WAHM for eight years. And I had the computer belly and desk chair butt to prove it. But not anymore.

Drugfree Arthritis Remedies for Computer Workers

At 48, I was diagnosed with arthritis in my shoulder. It's spread to the other shoulder and neck. Working all day at a keyboard does not make arthritics any easier to deal with. So how do I cope?

--Lose weight. I have lost over 90 pounds. It hasn't made the pain disappear. In fact, some of my chronic pain is getting worse, but that's from age and sitting a computer every day. But carrying less weight makes exercise easier. I'm more limber, agile and coordinated.  Read on Drugfree Arthritis Remedies for Computer Workers

Whats to do to Get Featured on Bubblews Front Page

I write for Bubblews and posts that hit the front page go platinum. But short answer to how to get there, I don't know just yet. I think I'm latching on though. For most of my time on Bubblews, I interacted on posts from my notifications feed. Then I started seeing high likes and page views on some and found they'd been on Bubblews front page. Having never been featured, I wondered how to achieve that. I analyzed the articles to see what mine might lack or what they had in common. I noticed some things.
